Streets Operative
Salary: £12.72 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Havering Depot, RM12 5BF
As a Streets Operative at FCC Environment, you will help keep the streets of Havering clean, safe and welcoming. You’ll be carrying out a variety of cleansing tasks including bin emptying, litter picking, sweeping, and removing weeds or fly tips, ensuring our service meets the Borough Council’s contract specifications.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?
- Carrying out residential bin emptying, litter picking, sweeping, weed removal and fly tip removal to agreed standards
- Lifting and moving heavy bins or bulky waste items safely
- Walking significant distances while cleaning various streets
- Separating recyclable and reusable materials at disposal sites
- Reporting defects or issues to your supervisor promptly
- Following all safety instructions and wearing designated PPE
- Maintaining high standards of work and adopting safe working practices
What are we looking for?
- Experience in a similar cleansing or manual outdoor role (desirable)
- Willingness to operate a mechanical street sweeper (training provided)
- Basic literacy skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team or independently
- Flexible, hard-working, honest and trustworthy
- A full driving licence
